Finally it has come; my new job. I have been informed as of Monday morning that after three weeks of intensive interviews, I am now the new assistant manager for Kielh's Skincare in David Jones. What a sigh of relief. My position seems as though it will be a lot of fun, since i'll be working in the cosmetics department, I'm sure I will make lots of friends out of my new co-workers. The only drawback is that my training doesnt begin for another week, so I'll just have to keep surfing and hiking untill I start... bummer :)
On a less happy note, my dear and good friend/old roommate Anja will be going back to Germany on Sunday after her two month internship at the hospital here. I have spent 90% of my great adventures and outings here with her and am going to miss her dearly. We love to laugh together and she has come out to Manly to hang out with me many times since Ive moved. As you can see from my photo albums on facebook, she has been there to do it all with me. On Saturday, Shiobhan has organized a large going away party/dinner/outing for her and Im sure Ill have great pics to post of that soon. My experience here thus far has taught me that Sydney is very much a transient city like San Francisco and there will most likely be several great new friends that I meet for only a short while, while I'm here. Anna and I already have our Sleeping with the Enemy reunion planned for Octoberfest 2010 where we will join Anja. We already can't wait! After that we will all go to Ireland to reunite with Shiobhan.
My new house is still quite wonderful. I love my new roommates, we still laugh about nothing in particular every time we see each other. I am dating a really wonderful new boy as well. He is Peruvian, but has lived in Sydney for 5 years. He has a great group of friends that I have been spending a lot of time with as well, it's nice to hear them all speaking Spanish, probably because it reminds me of home :) I'll snag some photos of all of us soon, tomorrow we're going surfing together!!!
Other than that, the weather has been alright. Some rainy days, but mostly sunny and warm. I went surfing in my swim suite and a rash guard the other day and every guy in the water thought I was nuts. I was warm and unbothered as could be. I keep trying to explain to the Aussie's that they have no idea what Cold really is. Now that I have my job, I'll be able to buy my own surf board now, which I'll post the day I get it! Can't wait!
To all my friends and family, I miss you all and hope your lives are rolling along smoothly. You are forever welcome to come visit at any time, and I hope you enjoy the updates on my new life :)
Anja taught me how to eat prawns with their heads and legs still attached!!!!
